I was an artist from birth – always the observer! As soon as I could hold a writing instrument, I was drawing. After earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I spent 10 years employed in the business end of the fashion and home furnishings industries. When a friend asked me to paint a mural in her nursery in 2000, my custom mural/decorative painting business was born. In 2005, I was hired by a day camp as an artist-in-residence and discovered a new passion – working with children. It was then that I decided to combine my artistic talents, professional experience and love of working with children to pursue a Master’s degree in Art Education. What I enjoy most about teaching is witnessing the joy of discovery in my students. I have always known that I wanted to make the arts an essential component of my life, and have found the ways to successfully build my career around both creating art and helping others find their inner artist!
Robin Weiss is a New York State and New Jersey State Certified Visual Arts teacher and mural artist. Robin holds a BFA from the University of Michigan and a MS-Art Ed from LIU-CW Post. Her decorative painting company, Paint Your World, specializes in custom painted wall murals and furniture. Children’s spaces are a favorite, in which she includes details that spark imagination and stimulate creative play. Surprises such as a partially hidden face, an animal's expression, or a suggested encounter entice children to discover their mural anew for years to come.
